Our restaurant is located in the most beautiful nature reserve of the Netherlands. Here you can unwind after spending an afternoon on the water or on your bike and enjoy snacks and drinks. We also serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a variety of dishes at Het Rietershuijs in Kalenberg.

Our chef regularly changes the menu, because according to him: ‘’every season has its own dishes and vegetables’’, which in our restaurant are mostly regional and local.The meat for example comes from cows which lived in the nature of Drenthe for their whole life. The grass in the pastures the cows feed on contains many herbs, only the tiniest amounts of fertilizer and no pesticides – and you can enjoy the pure taste of nature!

During the winter, we serve (heart)warming comfort food, amongst others various sorts of delicious ‘stamppot’ (traditional Dutch dish of mashed potatoes with vegetables and with or without meat), starting at only EUR 10,–.

Weather permitting you can enjoy our spacious terrace with its own dock, looking out over the Kalenbergergracht. Our comfortable lounge furniture is made for spending lazy afternoons and evenings, having snacks and drinks or dinner.

 

The restaurant is a great place for weddings and private parties as well. It accommodates large groups up to 60 guests. Furthermore we offer a separate room for private dining for up to 24 guests. This room, called ‘’de Leeskamer” (the Reading Room) is also great for meetings and conferences if you want to offer your clients or business partners a special location and experience.
